Onboarding Walkthrough
A detailed look at each step in the Sellrn onboarding wizard and what each choice means for your store.
When you first create a Sellrn account, a 5-step wizard guides you through the key decisions about your store. Each answer shapes what Sellrn generates for you — pages, sections, settings, and theme.
Step 1 — Choose your industry
This tells Sellrn what kind of business you run. The eight options are:
- Fashion — clothing, accessories, shoes, jewellery.
- Food & Beverage — cafes, restaurants, packaged food, drinks, produce.
- Home & Living — furniture, decor, kitchenware, plants.
- Beauty — skincare, makeup, haircare, wellness products.
- Electronics — gadgets, components, tech accessories.
- Services — consulting, freelancing, agencies, coaching.
- Health — supplements, medical equipment, fitness products.
- Custom — anything else. A blank slate with no industry assumptions.
Sellrn uses your industry choice to pick the right starter kit — a set of page sections and content presets that match your category.
Step 2 — Choose a business model
This controls which features are enabled by default:
| Model | What gets enabled |
|---|---|
| Online Store | Cart, checkout, Stripe payments, order management, shipping, taxes. |
| Wholesale | Buyer application portal, price lists, wholesale groups, RFQ / request-for-quote. |
| Hybrid | Everything from Online Store plus everything from Wholesale — both retail and B2B in one storefront. |
| Catalog | Products displayed in browse-only mode. Checkout is disabled. An "Enquire" or "Request quote" CTA replaces "Add to cart". |
| Showcase | Portfolio-style storefront with no products. Used for lead generation via contact forms. |
You can change your business model later. Go to Settings and look for Catalog mode to toggle catalog-only. More advanced model changes can be done through the Bricks settings.
Step 3 — Pick a theme preset
Sellrn ships with six presets that control your visual style:
- Editorial — strong typography, asymmetric layouts, Playfair Display headings. Best for fashion and premium catalogs.
- Bold Commerce — high contrast, vibrant colors, confident layout. Best for mainstream retail and electronics.
- Artisan Warmth — warm earthy tones, handcrafted feel, serif headings. Best for food, beauty, and home goods.
- Modern Minimal — clean, lots of whitespace, thin type. Best for services, tech, and luxury brands.
- Luxury Noir — dark backgrounds, gold accents, premium feel. Best for jewellery, high-end fashion, and spirits.
- Classic Commerce — familiar e-commerce layout with trusted visual conventions. Best for general retail.
Every design token (color, font, spacing, radius) can be customised individually in Settings → Storefront after onboarding.
Step 4 — Select a payment method
Choose between Stripe (card payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay) or Cash on Delivery. You can add or switch payment methods at any time in Settings → Payments. This step is skipped for Catalog and Showcase business models.
Step 5 — Auto-build
Sellrn generates your starter store based on your answers. This includes:
- A homepage with sections appropriate to your industry and business model.
- A shop page, product detail page, cart, and checkout (if applicable).
- An About page and a Contact page with a form.
- Your theme tokens, fonts, and color palette applied to all pages.
- Your payment method configured and ready to test.
The auto-build takes a few seconds. After it completes, you land directly on the Dashboard with your store ready to edit.
