Adding Your First Product
A step-by-step guide to creating a product in Sellrn — title, description, images, price, stock, and publishing it to your storefront.
Products are the core of your Sellrn store. Each product has a title, description, images, price, and optional variants (like size or color). This guide walks you through creating your first product from scratch.
Step 1 — Open the Products page
Go to Dashboard → Products and click Add product in the top-right corner.
Step 2 — Fill in the basics
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | The product name shown to customers. Keep it concise and descriptive (e.g. "Classic White Oxford Shirt"). |
| Description | Rich text editor with formatting, links, and bullet lists. This appears on the product detail page. |
| Slug | Auto-generated from the title. Determines the product URL (e.g. /products/classic-white-oxford-shirt). You can edit it manually. |
Step 3 — Add images
Click Add images in the media panel. You can upload multiple images; the first image becomes the main thumbnail. Drag images to reorder them. Recommended size: at least 1000 × 1000 px, square or portrait.
Step 4 — Set pricing
- Price — the amount customers pay (in your store currency).
- Compare-at price — optional original price shown as strikethrough to indicate a sale. Must be higher than Price.
- Cost per item — optional for your records only; never shown to customers. Used to calculate profit margins in Analytics.
Step 5 — Track inventory
Toggle Track quantity to enable stock management. Enter the quantity on hand. When stock reaches zero, Sellrn marks the product as "Sold out" and hides the add-to-cart button by default (you can allow backorders in Settings).
Leave Track quantity off for products with unlimited stock (e.g. digital downloads, services, made-to-order items).
Step 6 — Organise with categories and tags
Assign the product to one or more categories (used for collection pages and navigation). Add tags for additional filtering (e.g. "summer", "sale", "new-arrival").
Step 7 — Publish
Set Status to Active and click Save. The product is immediately visible on your storefront. Set it to Draft if you are not ready to publish yet.
